Membership Requirements

1. Regular membership in the AFF is for individuals 18 years of age or older.

2. Junior membership in the AFF is for individuals under 18 years of age, whose parent/ guardian is an AFF member in good standing.

3. Membership runs from January 1st through December 31st of each year.

4. Regular membership in the AFF is limited to 50 individuals with no more than 10 of them being out of state members in order to maintain a practical working size; however, all meetings are open to guests and the general public.

5.A waiting list for AFF membership will be maintained. To become a regular member of the AFF, there must be a vacancy. Candidates must have attended at least three meetings within the past 12 consecutive months. The order in which candidates are placed on the waiting list is determined by their record of meeting attendance. A candidate who was first to attend the earliest meeting within a twelve month period will have priority. Whenever multiple candidates share the same earliest meeting date, the candidate who was first to attend a subsequent meeting will have priority.

6. Candidates must be nominated by two or more regular members in good standing. Discussion and a two-thirds majority vote of the regular members present are required for the candidate to become a member. A quorum of 15 regular members must be present to elect a new member.

7. Local members are defined as those who reside within a 100 mile radius of Washington, D.C.

8. Each year, all members are expected to contribute at least one article, clipping, drawing, cartoon, ad, or other item for inclusion in the club newsletter. All items should be sent directly to the Newsletter Editor and/or presented orally at club meetings.

9. All members must conduct themselves in a safe, responsible manner at collecting sites so as not to risk harm to themselves or others, and refrain from activities that could ultimately result in the loss of a collecting site.

10. Each member must have completed membership and release forms on file with the President or Secretary before participating in club trips.
