The American Fossil Federation was established on October 22, 1989 by a group of enthusiastic fossil collectors who wanted to share and show the interesting fossils they found. The AFF has evolved into a vital, active, energetic organization comprised of amateur paleontologists and collectors who are bonded by a love for fossils. The club also emphasizes education. Most meetings feature guest speakers, and members are active with displays and talks at local libraries and schools. Many of our members have donated and continue to donate material to museums for scientific study. Although club membership is limited to 50 members, all meetings are open to the public. We hold 6 meetings a year - all at the North Bowie Community Center in Bowie, Maryland. Meetings are held bi-monthly on the second Sunday of the month starting in January except in May when the meeting is held on the third Sunday of the month.
